The Kletzky Baby Rumor - Truth or Lie?

A despicable rumor has been created and no one knew the source yet everyone has heard of it circulating the internet through several social networks. The truth or a lie?

The murder of the 8 year old Leiby Kletzy was a horrendous crime that left the Jewish community shaken to its core.  For those unfamiliar with this story this Hasidic Jewish boy was kidnapped on Monday July 11 2011 as he was walking home from school in the Hasidic Neighborhood of Boro Park, Brooklyn.  His dismembered body was found days later in the Kensington apartment of confessed suspect of Levi Aron (35 years old) and in a dumpster in Sunset Park.  Now a year after this horrendous crime the memories of this horrible murder have been brought back due to a rumor regarding the parents of Leiby Kletzy.

Mazel Tov! A new boy has been born to the Kletzky family, or so claims a rumor that has been circulating the internet over several Social Media Networks.  Almost immediately after the circulation of this rumor comments flooded social networks claiming the falseness of the said rumor. If it was in fact false, who would have the audacity to start and spread such a horrific rumor about a family that was hurt so much? The vast majority of people were outraged how someone could garner up such a lowly and despicable rumor.  Some people claimed that this rumor was started by a staff member of the Yated paper.  TheCoolJew.com looked into this and can confirm that Yated paper did not spread this rumor.  A local freelance news reporter, Shimon Gifter told TCJ “To lie about the Kletzky family is despicable….”

Now what really happened did the parents of the murdered Leiby really have a child or is this just a lowly rumor circulating the internet?  An individual in the same neighborhood in Boro Park by the name of Nachman Kilefsky had a baby boy and people confused the last name with that of Kletzky.  Yated Reporter Tsemach Glenn spoke to Nachman Kletzky to wish him mazel tov and he told him that he’s been getting “mazel tov wishes” all day but it’s not true to say the very least.  So it just goes to show you that we have to be very careful about what we hear and spread.  Finding out the validity of a rumor is crucial as rumors are usually just that. Rumors.
