  3. great interview, I agree your beard is not who you are, give it up Chabad! it's what inside.
the famous story with the Satmar rebbah and R' moshe sherer, when someone asked the satmar rebbah why R' Moshe Sherer does not have a beard, and he answerd that when you go up to heaven they will ask you beard where is the yid, but R' Moshe they will ask Yid where is the beard.

  4. you can hear the sadness in his voice. My guess the major transformation he went through was seperating from his wife. I would imagine his very frum wife gave him an ultimatum to either get leave music or she would leave and he chose being a rock star. He cant live with the decision knowing he gave up his family for the hedonistic life style he was living on tour. I feel really bad for him I am a huge fan and had a similar struggle but cant imagine going through it in the public eye. I hope he comes to his senses and realize that bottom line his "rebirth" will only bring sadness and emptyness while leaving the spot light and getting back to his roots beard or no beard but no drugs and women will bring much more happiness. Matis we love your music but get out while you can still save your beautiful family

  5. Chassidus 101:

Of course Hashem can do whatever he wants, and can have compassion to everyone. But he wants us to initiate, to make the step to come close to him by doing mitzvois.

Whether you have a beard or not, is not the point, since there are poskim to rely on for a heter. But to not have a beard only because it's "ludicrous" to say it affects Hashem's mercy is itself ludicrous.

You can then ask why should I do mitzvois? How can eating milk and meat together affect Hashem's mercy? How can anything a human does possibly affect Hashem who's unlimited?

Chassidus teaches that true, from our perspective alone we can't touch Hashem or make a difference. However it is Hashem that decided that he wants our Mitzvois and he wants it to affect him so-to-speak whether we do a Mitzva or the opposite.

As a teacher once said, don't make Hashem so unlimited and beyond the world the he's useless (since he's too unlimited to bothered by the world). Since Hashem is even beyond the concept of unlimitedness. Rather Hashem is found in the unlimited as well as the limited that he should care about the minutest detail that we do. Because that's HIS will.

Point is, learn chassidus, know what Hashem wants. Know what a Mitzvah really is.
