Investigators Seize Food From VIP Kosher Foods

nvestigators say they've seized about $1 million worth of food from a Queens warehouse that was allegedly filled with rodents.

The U.S. Attorney's office filed suit against VIP Foods Friday.

The company distributes dried mixes like chicken soup and pancake mix.

Food and Drug Administration inspectors say the Ridgewood building had live and dead rodents, gnawed containers of food and rodent droppings "too numerous to count."

The discovery has some residents going home and checking their pantry.

"I think that's disgusting," said one resident. "I can imagine that it might be true because, I mean, just walking around, I go running in the morning, and just running through these streets here, you see a lot of rats and stuff running around. And then just looking at the state of the building now, I'm not surprised."

"It's always good to know where your food is coming from," said another resident. "If it's that place, then I don't think I want to have anything to do with those products."

NY1 has reached out to VIP Foods for comment but has not heard back as of 11:45 p.m. Friday.
